According to the history of the country, the banana industry emerged at the beginning of the 19th century, in an area of about 50,000 inhabitants and where 30,000 of them were a productive part of this activity. Initially it was clearly national, this area because it was port had easy access to the movement of the products grown there, due to this the commercialization and exportation caused foreigners to invest and turn their eyes towards this territory, which not only gave the possibility of growing bananas, but also had facility to produce cotton, indigo and tobacco. The natives of the Urabá Antioqueño saw how over the years their rights were violated by these great industries that took advantage of the socio-economic situation that prevailed in these territories, not affiliating them to social security.
